About the Role
Sasol invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of General Worker – Mining based in Secunda, Mpumalanga. In this role, the Maintenance Operator will support the Maintenance Team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance, ensuring operational reliability, and adhering to safety and procedural standards to maintain equipment sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete job-specific tasks and checklists with accuracy and attention to detail
- Conduct visual inspections of the working environment to ensure adherence to safety standards
- Report unsafe conditions to superiors
- Follow job-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Codes of Practice (COPs) to maintain housekeeping standards
- Work effectively within a team to achieve collective goals
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and act on them
- Assist artisans with daily tasks and provide support during equipment maintenance
- Report all task activities to the supervisor
Requirements:
- Grade 12/N3 qualification
- Maths & Science (an advantage)
- Valid driver’s license (an advantage)
- 12 months of plant experience, particularly in conveyor operations (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of the mining industry (preferred)
Key Competencies:
- Technical knowledge of conveyors
- Ability to interpret written information and work instructions
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Self-mastery and accountability for personal growth
